When "Frank" was released from prison after 20 years, he came to Fan Free Clinic for help. "He was very tense because he said everything had changed so much," says the Outreach Worker who assisted him, "He could not believe in order to get an ID from DMV you need two picture IDs." The Outreach Worker helped Frank get his birth certificate, social security card, and identification from the Welfare Department. After talking with his Parole Officer, he was also able to get prison identification card. With this in hand, Frank walked confidently into the DMV and received his ID.
Health Outreach

The Health Outreach Department is probably best known for its HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and testing programs.  Each year, more than 2,000 indiviudals are tested for HIV through Fan Free Clinic, many of whom would not be willing to get tested without the education and resources they are offered by FFC.  Testing is offered in a veriety of locations including, but not limited to, substance abuse treatment centers, parole offices, and homeless shelters.

In recent years, the Health Outreach Department has expanded to provide basic health information and resources that are targeted to the individual being seen i.e., substance abuse services and homeless shelters.
