Rider Information

Welcome RTP 2009 Riders!

We’re looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 16th, for Fan Free Clinic’s 5th Ride to Provide!  In advance of our event, please carefully review all of the following important information.

1.      Our starting location is the lower/far parking lot at Performance Food Group at 12500 West Creek Parkway, Richmond, VA 23238 (right off of Patterson Avenue near the Goochland County line).  PLEASE NOTE: There’s a similar street name in another county so when Google mapping (or Mapquesting, etc.) please use the address written this way - 12500 W. Creek Parkway, Richmond, VA 23238.  You can also just use this link:

2.      Check-in is from 6:30AM – 7:20AM.  Realistically, we don’t expect to see many folks hankering to check-in at 6:32AM.  But, please, let’s not bunch up at 7:18AM, either ;-)  It should be a fairly quick and painless process, and we’ll have bagels, juice and coffee to get you going.

3.      All 25-, 62.5-, and 100-mile Riders depart at 7:30AM sharp

4.      Riders will be provided with turn-by-turn cue sheets at check-in.  We’ll have several rides going on at once; PLEASE BE SURE that you receive the correct cue sheet for your ride.  Each cue sheet also has the phone number of the SAG vehicle(s) assigned to your route.

5.      Rehydrating beverages and tasty snacks will be available for all riders at all pit stops. Lunches for metric century and century riders will be available at the Plum Tree and Oak Grove Wesleyan pit stops, respectively.

6.      Waiver and Medical Forms

All riders are required to sign a waiver (parents sign for those ages 17 and under) AND complete two (2) copies of FFC's rider medical emergency form. Most folks pre-registering more than 2 weeks in advance of our event have received copies of these forms in the mail; those registering 5-13 days before the event receive the forms via email. Everyone else can complete them on the spot. The advantage of completing them in advance is, of course, you get to eat your bagel and drink your coffee without the hassle of filling out forms!

7.      Please bring with you:

a.       Helmet (REQUIRED)
b.      Replacement tire tube
c.       Basic bike tool kit to make minor adjustments (super helpful!)
d.      Medical Insurance Card
e.       Cell Phone
f.       Digital Camera (optional)
g.       Rain jacket (optional)
h.      Sunglasses (optional)

8.      Weather – We will ride in the rain so please check the weather that morning to determine whether you need your rain jacket.  You are also welcome to switch to a shorter route when you check-in, just let the person registering know what you plan to ride so they can make sure you have the correct cue sheet.  Please use your best judgment along the route.  We have every plan of having a great ride, but if the weather disagrees with us, we reserve the right to shorten or end the ride.  If for any reason we need to cancel the ride before it begins, we will post a notice on our website (www.fanfreeclinic.org).

RTP 2009 - Route Cue Sheets

We're posting these as a courtesy so you can become familiar with the route - not to look for shortcuts!  Remember: We can provide ride support to our riders on the designated route(s) only.  Veer off the beaten path and you pedal on your own.

Quarter Century (26.8 miles)

Metric Century (62.2 miles)

Century (101.4 miles)
