HIV Info

If you’ve ever had unprotected sex or shared a needle with anyone for any reason, even someone you trust, you may be at risk for contracting HIV. It’s important to know your HIV status!

  • About 21,000 Virginians are known to be living with HIV/AIDS.
  • In Virginia one out of every 370 people are infected with HIV.
  • According to recently released information from the CDC, it is estimated that there are over 50,000 new HIV infections each year in the United States.

Unfortunately many individuals are unaware of their status because they have not been tested. Studies show that someone who is HIV positive and unaware of his or her HIV status is more likely to infect others.

At FFC, we understand that fear and anxiety prevent many people from choosing to get tested. For this reason, we have made it easier than ever to get an HIV test. Testing is free, confidential, does NOT involve needles or blood, and you have your test result in 20 minutes! That’s right, no blood and no needles: The test is conducted using a swab run across the gum-line in your mouth.

Fan Free Clinic specializes in providing compassionate, non-judgmental and knowledgeable counselors who will be available to help you every step of the way. Your test counselor will help you understand how the test works, what the test results mean and help facilitate you into care should you need it.
