Medical Clinic Lay Volunteer
Lay volunteers are critical to the flow of patients through the medical clinic. Often the first person a patient sees in the medical clinic, they become the face of the organization and set the tone for the patients visit to be a positive experience. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, checking patients in, obtaining vitals, preparing exam rooms, filing charts, specimen testing and assisting providers and staff.
Volunteers for this position must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, dependable, compassionate and non-judgmental in their dealing with the populations we serve. This position has a minimum commitment of 6 months with 2-4 volunteer sessions per month.
Applicants for this position will be screened, interviewed, and must attend a mandatory orientation.
Registration Volunteer
Registration volunteers assist with screening individuals to determine eligibility for Health Brigade services. Responsibilities include clearly explaining the intake process, assisting with form completion and discussing sensitive financial matters.
Volunteers for this position must have consistent weekly or bi-weekly availability with consistent hours, flexibility, compassionate and non-judgmental in their dealing with the populations we serve.
Health Outreach Specialist Volunteer
Health Outreach Specialist Volunteers work closely with our Health Outreach & Advocacy Services to provide health information and HIV testing to the greater Richmond area. From sexual health to promoting clinic services, Health Outreach serves the community by providing an open invitation to services. Volunteers assist with tabling, handing out condoms and information about safe sexual practices, and provide administrative support for HIV testing in the community.
Volunteers for this position must be self-motivated, dependable, outgoing and friendly, open to discussing issues related to sex and sexuality, compassionate and non-judgmental in their dealing with the populations we serve. This position has a minimum commitment of 6 months with 2-4 volunteer sessions per month.
Interpreter Volunteer
Health Brigade serves a large population of individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Bilingual volunteers who train for specific positions (Medical Clinic Lay Volunteer, Registration Volunteer, etc.) are eligible to receive further training to act as an interpreter in those roles. This position allows us to provide quality care to all of our patients, regardless of their language.
