FFC welcomed Karen A. Legato, MPS, MSW as its Executive Director on August 2, 2010. Highly respected in the health and social service arena, Karen came to FFC with over 25 years experience in non-profit management and direct services.
Prior to accepting the position, Karen served for 11 years as the Director of Program Services at FRIENDS Association for Children, a three-center agency assisting vulnerable children and families to succeed against the odds in some of Richmond’s most impoverished neighborhoods. Karen has also worked as an organizational consultant, a Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work adjunct professor and field supervisor, Brookside Home Health Director of Medical Social Work Services, a youth minister, pastoral administrator and hospital chaplain.
Karen has served on various boards and community councils and currently is actively involved in the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg’s AGE WAVE planning, Full Circle Grief Center, Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) and the Richmond Organization for Sexual Minority Youth (ROSMY).
